Public defence 3 Dec: PhD candidate Helene Meling Stemland

PhD candidate Helene Meling Stemland has been has submitted the following academic thesis as a part of the doctoral work at the University of Bergen, Department of Earth Sciences:

«Seismic acquisition and analysis in a changing Arctic»

Stemland will be defending her thesis on 3 December 2020, 10:15-13:15.

Helene carried out a successful trial lecture on November 11 2020, on the topic «Recent developments in environmental geophysics».

The following assessment committee has been appointed to assess the thesis:

  • Dr. Angus Best, Head of Marine Geoscience at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK
  • Professor Martin Landrø, NTNU, Trondheim, Norway

The committe leader is Assoc. Prof. Isabelle Lecomte, University of Bergen. Assoc. Prof. Henk Keers will lead the defence.

Helene Stemland’s research project has been supervised by Professor Tor Arne Johansen (University of Bergen), and co-supervised by Senior Engineer Bent Ole Ruud (University of Bergen) and Professor Leiv-J. Gelius (University of Oslo). During the research stay at Stanford University, Professor Gary Mavko hosted the candidate.
